Be Yourself –  Not Who Others Want You To Be!

What makes you happy?

Why do you feel like you need to hide who you are?

Have you ever wanted to do something outside of the “normal box”?

Do you find yourself pretending to be someone else to please others?

Do you think you are a lot for people?

Sadly, we judge each other so hard. The message we are told all the time is,  “if you are different you are wrong.” This is a BULL SH** logic friend. 

If you feel like you need to water yourself down to be liked or loved by the people around you than it is time to get a new circle.

It is said that we are influenced by the five people we spend the most time with. If those people are making you feel bad about who you are then it is time for you to clean house. You don’t have to be mean and tell those people off, you can just make them an acquaintance and not someone in your inner circle.

We are all created to be unique. I have yet to meet two people that are the same. Have you been told that you need to look like others, act like others, and conform to what society tells you to be? I say screw that! 

I want to know what makes you unique, what you love and hate! Tell me what makes you happy, hopeful, excited, anxious, sad, and angry!

The reason we like people that are like us is because it makes us feel more comfortable. It is not wrong to seek like-minded people, what is wrong is to make others feel bad for being unique. 

Be Who you want to be!!!!

I am sorry if you have been treated cruelly for being an interesting human being. Please do not listen to those people! Instead of listening to them, consider the source of the opinion! I want you to let your uniqueness shine!

You may be asking yourself, “How do I let my uniqueness shin when I feel ashamed of myself?” To become more comfortable with yourself and not place so much importance on the opinion of others, I would suggest taking the time to find out who you are. 

That means becoming okay with yourself, finding out what you want to do, who do you want to be, what makes your soul happy and what all your other feelings mean.

I am tired of hearing that if you express yourself in any other way than being happy or angry you are weak. The truth is the strongest people I have had the pleasure of meeting can express their full range of emotions.

Please, please, please hear me when I say- it is okay to have feelings, they are not wrong or weak! Take the time to understand why something, someone, or a situation makes you happy, sad, irritated, or anxious. 


Friend, I want you to become so confident in who you are that no one’s opinion or behavior can change who you are meant to be. You are amazing and I hope you take the time to see it to!

Take some time to reflect on the following questions, dig deep, be honest, and do not let what others have told you to interfere.

  • What makes you happy and excited?
  • Why aren’t you following your dreams?
  • Why do you feel like you need to hide who you are?

  • Do you find yourself pretending to be someone else to please others?
